Shanthimalai “Red” Nag Champa

Shanthimalai “Red” Nag Champa

“Shanthimalai Nag Champa Incense is imported from the foot of the sacred mountain Arunachala in Tamil Nadu, India. A large percentage of profits from sales of the incense contributes to the health care, education, and vocational training for local villagers through Shanthimalai Trust, founded in 1985. Production of incense offers employment for widows, abandoned mothers, and physically handicapped or unmarried women who otherwise would have no means of earning an income.”

With that said, I was a little suspicious of this particular Nag Champa because in the box it has a very strong scent.  Not as powerful as Satya’s Super Hit incense, but quite strong just the same.  It was a wonderful surprise to discover that when burned the scent is sweet, alluring and complex.  It lacks a bit of the spicy note of  the Satya offering, but I consider that to be a good thing as the smell is softer and more pleasing to me.  I also found that the scent tends to linger a little longer than other Nag Champas and lends the room a very pleasant scent the next day as well.

I burn quite a lot of incense in my efforts to enjoy them as well and evaluate them and it is safe to say that Shanthimalai Nag Champa will occupy a prominent place in my list of favorite incense from now on.  If you enjoy Nag Champas and especially if you are a fan of Satya Sai Baba Nag Champa, you owe it to yourself to give Shanthimalai Nag Champa a try.  I know that you will not be disappointed and in fact may find yourself more than a little surprised that this wonderful scent escaped your notice until now.

You can purchase it here from The Zen Hippie online store.

Peace, Love and Happiness to you all.
