Satya Sandalwood Incense Review

I am a big fan of sandalwood.  A fact that should be obvious if you have read very many of my reviews on incense.  I am also a fan of Shrinivas Sugandhalaya and the incense they produce under various names.  I am still having a hard time figuring out their Oriental series though.  The series is based on a sandalwood and vanilla mixture with other scents added in to make up the individual offerings in the line.  The Patchouli Forest is absolutely excellent whereas the Sunrise is really just kind of plain.

So that brings me to the sandalwood from this series.  You would think that with a name like Sandalwood and being from a line that is based on sandalwood, there would be plenty of sandalwood goodness to be had.  That isn’t the case it seems.  The scent has sandalwood in it, but there is a “something else” that keeps it from being as representative of sandalwood as the name on the box would suggest.  A light note of caramelized sugar seems to be in there as well as champa flower.  It has a slightly sharp note that is not the spicy note of a good sandalwood.

I won’t go so far as to say that I do not like it, but I will see that I can’t see much of a point to it.  If you want sandalwood then buy Satya‘s Super Sandalwood or Morning Star Sandalwood.  Because this is not a good representation of sandalwood.  It isn’t unpleasant or offensive, it is just generic and plain.  Much like the Sunrise scent from the same line.
