Satya Patchouli Forest Incense Review
Satya Patchouli Forest is from the Oriental Series by Shrinivas Sugandhalaya. I have to say that of the series that includes Celestial, Midnight, Sandalwood and Sunrise, this scent is the clear winner and my personal favorite. All of the Oriental Series are built on a base of sandalwood and vanilla and in this case the base components blend wonderfully well with the patchouli and other ingredients.
This is not a typical patchouli scent that you would expect to find lingering in the air at a Dead concert. Instead the scent is very much like a forest with a crisp, clean top note that compliments the earthy, musky scent of patchouli incredibly well. I will note however that the scent is rather strong. It is not unpleasantly strong to me since I favor musky, earthy smells but some here at The Zen Hippie thought it to be a bit strong for their tastes. Of course you have to bear in mind that the people who said that tend to favor lighter, crisper scents. It is certainly no stronger than Satya Sai Baba Nag Champa to me.
Like most Satya incense the burn time was around half an hour with a moderate amount of smoke. The scent lingers softly after the stick goes out and I found that it fades pleasantly away over time. Which is to say it does not linger like an unwelcome house guest that will not go away. Overall I think it would be a great scent to meditate or daydream with. The scent is warm, spicy, slightly earthy and yet with a crisp, clean top note. It is not the patchouli of the 1960′s or even a typical patchouli blend at all.
It won me over and I am a harsh critic of patchouli incense because patchouli is one of my favorite scents. Give it a try if you enjoy patchouli or of you are looking for something different and unique to try.
