Morning Star Rose Incense Review

Morning Star Rose Incense Review

The big Morning Star Incense Review Roundup is almost complete.  I have but one scent left to review and there is a very good reason I saved it for last.  I don’t like the smell of roses.  I never have and unless a spontaneous genetic mutation causes them all to start smelling like sandalwood, I doubt I ever will.  How can you not like the smell of roses I hear you asking.  Well, I find the scent to be too sweet and cloying.  It also reminds me of terrible rose scented hand cream that I have had the misfortune to occasionally catch a whiff of.  So if Nippon-Kodo can impress me at all with the rose scent from their Morning Star line, they will have accomplished a mighty feat indeed.

The unlit stick doesn’t smell too bad.  Actually, it is sort of faintly spicy which masks a bit of the signature sweet that I associate with roses.  Still, it doesn’t count for much unless you light an incense stick and let the true character of it permeate the air a bit.  So lets see what happens after I apply the ceremonial Bic to it for a moment or two.

In an effort to be unbiased, even though I made my bias clear, I have to say that the lit stick smells impressively like fresh roses.  I mean, seriously, how does Nippon-Kodo do that?  My guess is probably magic.  The scent is floral, lightly sweet, clean and impressively clear.  If you like the smell of roses then I have the incense for you.  I still don’t like the smell of roses but once again Nippon-Kodo has made a believer out of me with the scents they are able to deliver.  I will use one of my favorite words here and say that I am stupefied by how closely this stick resembles fresh roses.

You can get a box here and mock your reviewer for not liking the smell of roses.
