Morning Star Cinnamon Incense Review

The Cinnabon franchise in the local mall is one of my favorite scents in the world.  The scent is warm, sweet, spicy and makes me feel alright with world.  To the point that I can completely forget that I am trudging through a gigantic monument to consumerism.  I am not a big fan of the actual food there because it is far too sweet, but I have often wished I could bottle the scent to enjoy later.

Towards the goal of enjoying the smell of Cinnabon anytime I want I have tried many incense sticks that claim to be cinnamon.  I have found that “cinnamon inspired” might be a better term for them unfortunately.  So I was excited to try out the cinnamon from Nippon-Kodo’s Morning Star Line.  Of course I should have known not to get too excited.  Cinnabon is a combination of sugar, cinnamon and who knows what.  When you take this stick out of the box you are presented with cinnamon and no sugar.

When lit, the scent is familiar.  Warm, spicy and crisp.  You will find no sugary-sweet tones in this stick, just a tremendously enjoyable cinnamon fragrance.  It reminds me of freshly baked things, cinnamon toast and all the good things that go with cinnamon.  I am certainly well pleased with this stick after the olfactory disaster I had recently from a competing stick.  Again, there is a reason that Nippon-Kodo has been in business for not just decades, but centuries.  They know how to do incense right.

So sadly I don’t have Cinnabon in a bottle but what I do have is an immensely enjoyable fragrance that reminds me of home, warm places, good food and holidays.

You too can join the quest to bottle Cinnabon here.
