Morning Star Cedarwood Incense Review
When I was a kid we had a cedar tree festooned with lights and tinsel every Christmas. Even though my childhood was over some time ago and I prefer to buy Scotch pines from the Boy Scouts for Christmas, the smell of cedar still has a powerful effect on my memory. Of course this is true for most scents. The sense of smell forges powerful, lifelong memories and associations. Which is why incense is such a wonderful thing to daydream with.
Taking a stick out of the box my head was filled instantly with a montage of scenes from Christmas’ past, my moms old cedar chest, the cedar sachets that some people put in closets and drawers and the deep, fragrant woods I used to play in as a kid. Concentrating on the last for a bit I decided that more than anything the scent is very much like the foliage of a white cedar and not the wood. Red cedar wood is far more sharp than white cedar and this stick is less sharp than even the latter. Instead the scent is warm, woody, slightly spicy and very full.
Once lit it attains that sharp, spicy note I would associate with red cedar, although not as strong, and yet it maintains the character described above. The difference is amazing and very, very good. I could very easily use this as an air freshener on a day to day basis. The scent is that pleasant without being the slightest bit overpowering. To be honest, when burning this stick is exactly the scent I remember from my Christmas’ as a child. This stick is a winner to me by every definition that I have. I highly recommend it.
You too can be amazed at the quality of the scent here.
