Gonesh No. 4 Orchards and Vines Review
Cherries, peaches, apples, honeysuckle and other scents make this a positively wonderful smelling incense straight out of the package. Among my first mental reactions were, “candy” “fruit” and “food”. I am not usually a fan of sweet incense scents and I am dubious of any and all incense marketed as “cherry” or “banana” or whatever. This offering from Gonesh is not marketed like that and yet is highly reminiscent of its name “Orchards and Vines”. It could be that I have a winner on my hands, but the scent when lit always tells the tale.
Sadly, like other Gonesh incense I have reviewed previously the scent changes quite a bit when the stick is lit. In this case however that is a very good thing. A lot of the sweet, candy-like notes that are present in the unlit stick vanish and you are left with a pleasingly rich scent that isn’t overtly sweet. It is still sweet and still very fruity, but not unpleasantly so. If you have read any of my previous (highly subjective) reviews you know I am not a fan of floral or sweet or bizarre blends. So for this to pass inspection and be labeled as something that I would burn again is quite an achievement.
Sitting here with this scent wafting on the breeze, I am reminded of a party I attended more than 25 years ago where this exact scent was thick in the air. It leaves me wondering if this scent was, in fact, the same one as back then. If it is, then kudos to Genieco for amazing quality control over the years. The scent is exactly the same as I can remember from back then. If it isn’t, then at least it triggered a very pleasant memory and that is one of the reasons you use incense.
