Gonesh Lavender Extra Rich Review

Gonesh Lavender Extra Rich Review

Lavender is one of the few floral scents that I enjoy.  I use it regularly to relax with, to settle down to get ready to go to sleep with and when meditating.  I have tried virtually every lavender incense and fragrance under the sun so I feel pretty confident that I can recognize a good version when it comes across my desk.

This offering from Genieco thrills and mildly disappoints at the same time.  Fresh from the package the lavender fragrance is excellent, but a half second later I detected that sharp note that seems to be a characteristic of Gonesh incense.  I have speculated before that I think it is the charcoal that Genieco manufactures their sticks with and I am still leaning toward that explanation.  However, the lavender scent is very, very good despite the note that perhaps only I have a problem with.  The real proof is in the smoke, so lets get to it.

You ever notice that you can see dim stars better when you don’t look directly at them?  Well, this stick is a bit like that.  You can smell the lavender better when you don’t try.  When burning the scent of lavender is not as pronounced as in the unlit stick.  Which seems to be characteristic of Gonesh sticks as well.  It isn’t bad although it is slightly more perfume-like than I would have cared for.

Overall it is not bad and it is one that I would probably use again in some situations.  The perfume tends to linger longer than with other sticks and that could be counted as a plus.  An ideal use of this stick for me would be to burn in the bedroom several hours before bed to infuse the sheets and blankets with a lavender scent.  If you have never tried lavender as a sleep aid, I highly recommend it.
